Anticipation

Life is full of defining moments; those lucid intervals when the world’s spotlight seems to be focused on you and you alone, waiting for you to stake your claim.   This year is your defining year.  Its days stretch hand in hand, exhaled in one collective breath, and riding up to the moment when it would reveal to you its decision.  You’re crossing everything that can be crossed, eyes closed in constipated anticipation until you achieve what you have always dreamed about.  This revelation is not going to happen right away, but it’s going to happen soon.  

You have to believe that it’s going to happen, whatever it is.  Anything other than the desired outcome will wipe out everything that you have worked for.  Forget about the money; it comes and goes.  Think about all the time you’ve spent working towards this goal, the youth you surrendered in exchange for the future.  Think about the intangibles that can never be recovered, lost in the commerce of men.

You have to believe that it will happen.  The alternative is too painful to even think about.
