The Harry Potter Scandal

Ron Weasley is gay.

I know, that’s a blasphemous thought. But now that the Harry Potter saga is finally over, everyone and everything about the book is fair game. But what if Ron is or was? JK Rowling certainly did not explore that realm when she wrote all those Potter books. HP is foremost a childrens book after all. And besides, homosexuality is clearly a “muggle thing”.

Come to think of it, if there indeed is a gay wizard, how would he cast a spell on someone he fancies to ensure that he gets his undivided attention? URANUS ES MINUS (then flick the wand with the pinky pointing up to the sky)!?

I’m sure JK didn’t mean anything by it when she had Ron’s wand ‘broken’. Was she just referring plainly to Ron’s wand or to something else? It also did not help that Ron and Harry spent an inordinate amount of time snuggling under the invisibility cloak. What happened under that sheet is anyone’s guess because, well nobody knows what’s going on with the two lads being invisible and all. Were they just walking side by side? Were Ron’s hands wrapped around Harry’s waist, his head resting on Harry’s shoulders, or was Ron walking behind Harry imitating a choo-choo train? Now that should be a delicious speculation.

Now before anyone reading this casts a Cruciatus curse my way. This is all in the spirit of fun. Hahaha, disclaimer galore.

But just think about it, Ron definitely took his time expressing his feelings for Hermione. Could it be that he was just timid and unbelievably clueless (as he was in most things), or could it be that he has his broken wand focused on someone else? Someone with a lightning bolt shaped scar perhaps?

But they both got married at the end of the book! Well that’s not exactly the brightest retort when someone’s sexuality is put into question now, is it? There are lots of married gay men. And take note of the fact that Harry married Ginny, Ron’s sister, keeping Harry within the Weasley family. There were no protestations there.

Maybe Ron was thinking, “At least even if I don’t have ‘arry to myself, we still have ‘arry in the family”. Indeed, keeping Harry firmly in the family circle should open up a lot of opportunities for those midnight trysts under the invisibility cloak.

I rest my case.
