Link Worthy Blogs

The trouble with and, at the same time, the fantastic thing about blogging is that it is free—which means that one can write about anything under the sun without answering to anybody. While it encourages freedom of expression and sometimes, exploration of creativity, most of the time, if one were to look for a really good blog, one has to wade through rivers of ridiculously inane blogs (mine included) in order to find one that is worth reading and worth linking to.

In my other blog I’ve tried to persuade the community masters to come up with a featured blogs of the week, or month, or even, for chrissakes, a blog of the quarter– to no avail. It seems the idea of featuring blogs is either distasteful or a bloody waste of time.

There are bloggers who have actually taken it upon themselves to come up with their own versions of featured blogs, but unfortunately, it is anchored heavily on popularity. And since we are a ‘hakot’ nation, those who usually win (I say usually because once in a while there are blogs who really deserved to win) are those who are able to rally enough bloggers behind them; quality be damned. While I respect this, as one would respect people’s prerogatives, sometimes the outcome leaves a bad taste in the beholder’s mouth.

So to quench my thirst for quality blogs, I am coming up with my own version of featured blogs, and I call it, drumrolls please—Link Worthy Blogs. While I am not perfect, I do have my sense of what is good and what is wonderful– something that I will not be denied.

Basically, I will be posting, nay, featuring here those blogs which I have come across that fit my idea of the lofty and the beautiful. I will be posting and retaining my review of these blogs here for a minimum of one week up to a maximum of one month, or until I come across another blog that’s up to par or even better than the current feature– whichever comes first.

There will be no monetary reward, nor will there be anything resembling a shiny object for the featured blog. I’d like to think that being featured is a reward in itself. That, and the accompanying link love of course, something that may not be that significant. But hey I’ve got a PR3 (that should count for something right? Nyaha!) and there are sporadic visitors to this site and given the propensity and the compulsiveness of my bloghopping, this should translate to traffic referrals benefiting the featured blogger; no matter how meager the traffic numbers may be.

Lest you get the wrong impression, this project is not necessarily altruistic in nature. In fact my first and foremost concern is to quench number 1’s, yours truly, quality blog thirst. But if it helps to get these good blogs known, then it’s just icing in my egotistic cake.

Again, the featured bloggers here are those that satisfy my personal aesthetic standards and no one else’s. If you’d like to help out, please do so by pointing me in the right direction. If you scoff at the idea, I hope you choke while doing so.
