30 Posts In 30 Nights

Let’s see if we can do this.  Barring natural calamities, severed fingers, or holidays, I’ll try and post one entry every night for 30 days.  Today is the 3rd of October, this means that I should have 30 posts by November 3.  This might sound very ambitious but if you’re a nightshift dude with no better thing to do so why not, yeah?

Here goes the first one:

The Tragic Bottle of J&B

I know he looks at me longingly everytime I open the fridge.  Sometimes he gives me that shrill clinking sound, deliberately swinging his body to bounce against that wine bottle which is his neighbor.  He must be feeling lonely amidst all the inanimate things surrounding him in that cold, cold place. 

Perhaps he’s missing those days when I’d place him below the sofa after I pour half a glass of his content into a whiskey glass and drain it in one swift motion, allowing the alcohol to trace a fiery road from my esophagus to my stomach.

He doesn’t deserve the cold treatment I’m giving him.  I know that.  He knows that.  He was bought supposedly to quench the alcohol thirst of my good for nothing friends, the same folks who ignored him preferring the low alcohol content of beer.  He must have waited all night stewing in a cooler full of ice like a recently dead person’s internal organ waiting for the transplant team.

But he knows his time will come.  I am already looking towards the weekend to spend some time with him and perhaps to drain him once and for all.  I know he’d like that.
