Bonifacio Day

My dad’s name is Bonifacio, a somewhat barriotic name that I once lumped with Eustaquio, Procopio, and Susisa (my lola’s name).  Nothing of import really, just that today is the official Bonifacio Day, and not tomorrow or any other day that Gloria deems fit to declare to bolster her perpetually sagging popularity.

My dad’s father was a patriot, he fought in the second world war.  He wasn’t named Fabian for nothing.  I guess my paternal lolo liked the fact that Bonifacio was the hero of the real masses, and being the freedom fighter that he was, he wanted to name one of his sons after the man who started the himagsikan.

I couldn’t divulge my deceased mother’s name, to do so would remind me that once upon a time, they decided to do an abominable thing, i.e. combine their name to create a gay-sounding name for their firstborn.  I’m not sure if they were too blinded by my infantile beauty that they decided to give me the name that I carelessly carry;  I can’t really be sure but some things you just have to live with.

It’s funny but after a length of time, I don’t think as badly as the name Bonifacio as I used to.  In fact, minus the ridiculous concatenations of the name, it kinda has an Italian ring to it, very romantic-ish.

UPDATE.. I am having one hell of a blast.  Mahjong all day (if I want to), surf the net all night, and have my ickle siblings to boss around.  My little sis, prepares my coffee every morning (around 9) and my dad would fuss over me not having breakfast yet.  The SO is off somewhere in one of her money making adventures so I’m pretty much a free bird.  My supposedly long term hiatus fell flat on it’s face.  Got two offers from two companies I applied to.  Wasn’t very keen about the applications but I had to calm some folks who were distraught about my resignation.  What do you know, one of the offers was something that no sane man should ever refuse.  So yeah, I just bought myself a new pair of gilded shackles.  Slave for life, baby!

Oh well, at least not before January 5.
