Fishing Boats on the Beach at Saintes-Maries

April 9, 2008

I have a painting hanging in my apartment that although beautiful, I can seldom look at without thinking of the hurts and the pains associated with it. This is a picture of how the painting looked like. Originally done by Van Gogh, some art critics have come to look at this painting as some sort of an insight on the dead artist’s spirituality. I couldn’t care less. All I know is that long ago, to put an end to a bitter feud, the dear SO asked her friend to paint a replica of Van Gogh’s Fishing Boats on the Beach at Saintes-Maries so she could give it to me.

A better picture of this painting is here.

No wonder this thing is one of your treasured things – it’s beautiful! Plus, it has a sentimental value. My Van Gogh favorite is “Vincent’s Bedroom in Arles.”

Beatiful painting. It’s sad that I don’t have a Van Gogh.
