Ivo Karlovic beats Roger Federer in Cincinnati

July 31, 2008

If there were any buzz on Roger Federer’s supposed decline, his last match with Ivo Karlovic didn’t help to silence it. Karlovic served Federer on a silver platter earlier today at the Cincinnati Open. This is a guy that Roger beat 6 times in six previous meetings.

Two weeks back in Toronto, Roger was sent packing early by Gilles Simon of France. In the first round.

Although Roger actually did better in Cincy (he didn’t lose in the first round), one has to wonder if this is the same Roger Federer that was so dominant last year. With his Cincy loss, the field is now wide open for Nadal who can take the world number 1 spot should he win the tournament. For Roger’s sake I hope Nadal does win the tournament. It would be embarrassing to call yourself number 1 when you’re showing such atrocious results.

What’s the deal Rog? You’re not dating Brooke Shields are you?
