Problem Solved And The Human Ability to Come Up With A Somewhat Workable Plan

May 25, 2007

It was the best of times. It was the worst of times. – Dickies

I should have listened more to my Natural Sciences teacher when he was talking about synapses and electrical impulses. I’m sure it would have explained a great deal about those light bulb moments; those instances that prompted several philospher kings to shout Eureka! and run down the streets butt-naked.

I have, to some degree, experienced such butt-naked err.. light bulb moments though not in the same magnitude as Archimedes’ water displacement or Newton’s concept of gravity courtesy of a falling apple. It’s like pulling a rabbit out of a hat or better yet out of thin air. We pinoys have a more malodorous term for those moment’s although it’s more to connote negative things; “hinugot sa puwet”. But hey, a solution is a solution just like a win is a win. There’s no debating it. It is what it is.

The sweetest is when the solution comes in the simplest form and at such important time- the last two minutes if the basketball fanatics would have their say. Indeed, to really comprehend a nectar would require the sourest need. It’s the most beautiful thing when you turn the worst time of your life into your best; when you are already in the throes of despair and by some weird twist of fate you find yourself in the driver’s seat.

Unlike U2, I didn’t climb the highest the highest mountain or swam the deepest seas only to come up empty handed. I just bounced ideas off people’s foreheads and voila, everything clicked like an unlocked safe.

Beer’s on me folks.
